Guantánamo: ‘Honor Bound to Defend Freedom’ is the work of playwrights Victoria Brittain and Gillian Slovo from spoken evidence and letters from British detainees to their families. The play was commissioned by London’s Tricycle Theatre, from an idea by Nicholas Kent, in January 2004, and played there and at the New Ambassadors Theatre, followed by amateur readings throughout the U.K. The play has had U.S. runs in New York City, Tucson, Northampton, San Francisco, San Diego and Boston.
This public reading of Guantánamo: 'Honor Bound to Defend Freedom' is intended to foster local dialogue about U.S. detentions at Guantánamo Bay and elsewhere around the world. The U.S. signed on to the Geneva Conventions and the Convention Against Torture to join a world community that set standards for the most basic human rights, including humane treatment and the ability to challenge one’s detention in a court of law. There will be a moderated discussion after the reading.

I hope that one of the links that Lord GeorgeN
posted refers to the Russians who were released.
They were to be involved in the lawsuit. A minor
detail stopped their travel to London. The Russians arrested them for planning terrorist
attacks.
The "show" isn't until 9/25, I think GatewayPundit had the story, I'll check and
link for you.

Thank you for the links. Overall, UNL has been far better than I feared. I wonder if it has trended conservative since Josh of OFK was here. The 9/11 memorial was run by the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, which delighted me.
Larwynn, I believe the play is based on the British Muslms, who are "innocent" in a court of law -- which I don't care about. We're in a war, not some legal fight, against terrorism. Saying "X hasn't been convicted of being a terrorist" now is the same as saying "Y hasn't been convicted of being a Zero pilot" in the Pacific War. Both are meaningless.

The Taliban said they would not attack civilians heading to the polls but warned them to stay away from areas where the militants might attack security forces. The Taliban tried to scare people from the polls but it does not look to be succeeding:
Enthusiasm among Afghans to vote in their first free legislative elections in more than 30 years has been high and the commander of US forces in the country predicted a record turnout of the 12.5 million registered to vote.
Lieutenant-General Karl Eikenberry said Taliban insurgents would not hesitate to attack election workers or voters to try to disrupt the ballot, but they would not succeed.On Saturday, the evil of the Taliban was made clear and apparent. Security forces saved thousands by spoiling a planned dam explosion:
Security forces arrested 20 militants as they were laying explosives to blow up a massive dam in southern Afghanistan on Saturday, the government said.
U.S.-led coalition troops and Afghan soldiers arrested the militants at Kajaki Dam in Helmand province, Defense Ministry spokesman Gen. Mohammed Saher Azimi said.
Thousands of people live near the dam.And, I woke up to this good news this morning...
